Part-Time Junior Interior Design Assistant
Our Firm is looking for a motivated, organized, and creative Junior Interior Design Assistant to support our growing hospitality design studio. This is an entry-level, part-time position ideal for a current interior design student, recent graduate, or someone looking to gain hands-on experience working on restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, and other commercial spaces.
This role combines design support, project coordination, FF&E sourcing, social media content, and administrative organization. You will work closely with our team throughout all phases of the design process, from early concepts and material selections to construction coordination, project installation, and documenting our work for social media.
Responsibilities
- Assist with FF&E, finish, material, lighting, and furniture sourcing
- Contact vendors for pricing, samples, lead times, and product information
- Organize and maintain the studio’s material library
- Update FF&E schedules, specifications, and budgets in Programa
- Assist with SketchUp models, CAD design drawings, presentations, and plans
- Help prepare client presentations and design packages
- Attend client meetings and site visits as needed
- Take detailed meeting notes and organize follow-up items
- Keep client portal tasks, deadlines, and project updates organized
- Assist with project management and contractor coordination
- Track product orders, samples, quotes, and project documentation
- Help maintain general design studio and project organization
- Capture behind-the-scenes photos and videos during design work, site visits, installations, and completed projects
- Assist with creating social media content, including Instagram posts, stories, reels, and project updates
- Help organize project photos, videos, renderings, and other marketing content
- Assist with writing basic captions and preparing content for posting
- Support the team with administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Current interior design student, recent graduate, or entry-level designer
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable communicating with vendors, clients, and contractors
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow through on deadlines
- Positive, proactive, and willing to learn
- Experience with SketchUp is preferred
- AutoCAD or Layout experience is a plus
- Familiarity with Canva, Adobe programs, Programa, or social media content creation is a plus
- Comfortable taking photos and short-form videos for social media
- Interest in hospitality and commercial interior design
Position Details
- Part-time employee position
- Approximately 10–15 hours per week
- Minimum availability of 10 hours per week
- Starting pay: $20 per hour
- Combination of remote work and in-person work at our San Diego studio
- Availability for occasional site visits, client meetings, and project installations
- Students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply
Paid Time Off and Holidays
Part-time employees will receive three paid vacation days per year, based on a normal five-hour workday.
The position also includes five hours of holiday pay for each of the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
This provides a total of 30 paid holiday hours per year.
