Under the direction of the Standard Shop Manager, the Saw Operator is responsible for cutting structural steel by supplying critical materials and subassemblies for the manufacturing and assembly of industrial ovens. This cross-functional role also involves building insulated panels, assembling sub-components, and actively supporting the sheet metal department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Read technical drawings, reports, and work instructions.

Perform cutting and shaping operations, working with a variety of mild steel, stainless steel, structural angle, channel, and tubing.

Set up and maintain all saw equipment.

Set up, fit, and position weldments, having many parts.

Develop working relationships with Engineering and other departments to address and resolve issues.

Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems, and to ensure the continuous improvement of processes and methods.
Position Requirements:
Technical Fabrication - Interpret tape measure, technical drawings, reports, and work instructions to ensure cuts and builds.
Material Manipulation - Perform cutting and shaping operations on a variety of materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, structural angle, C-channel, and tubing.
Equipment Operation - Set up, operate, and maintain saw equipment and expertly fit and position complex, multi-part weldments.
Collaboration & Improvement - Partner with engineers, managers, and co-workers in cross functional teams to resolve manufacturing challenges, improve product quality, and drive continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements - Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and work in an active manufacturing environment.
