Legal Assistant:
While lawyers are often the face of a law firm, paralegals (legal assistants) play a critical role in the process of representing clients. From coordinating with clients to obtaining information and documents, to helping attorneys draft legal documents and prepare for court appearances, and much more, paralegals (legal assistants) keep a firm on time and on target.
The Position:
Your responsibilities as a legal assistant at Butler, Looney & Martinsen are:
- Work closely with attorneys to assist with case preparation, filing and service of pleadings
- Act as liaison among all parties including court or other neutrals for scheduling and sharing information
- Organize and manage documents, including the creation of spreadsheets and retrieval systems
- Coordinate the collection, review and production of documents and respond to discovery requests
- Assist with trial preparation including the assembly of exhibits, witness binders and appendices for depositions and court filings
- Research case-related factual issues using in-house files and external research resources
Our office operates on an 8am-5pm business day (enjoy your 1-hour lunch) Monday through Friday. Benefits include paid time off and SIMPLE IRA matching.
Qualifications/Requirements:
High School Diploma
Excellent writing skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Typing speed of at least 50wpm
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
