Salary $56,000.00/Annually
Reporting to the Center Director/Pre-K Teacher and/or Director of Early Childhood Learning, the Nevada Ready! Pre-K (NR!PK) Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, age-appropriate, standards-based instruction to children enrolled in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV) Early Childhood Learning (ECL) Program. The NR!PK Teacher is qualified to teach in all Pre-K classrooms, including, but not limited to, Nevada Ready! Pre-K classrooms.
The NR!PK Teacher serves as the instructional leader and primary point of contact for families within the assigned classroom. This position is responsible for classroom quality, child outcomes, assessment and documentation, family engagement, and implementation of Nevada Ready! Pre-K requirements while modeling instructional best practices and collaborating with staff, families, and community partners to support child success and maintain compliance with all applicable program, licensing, health, and organizational requirements. The essential job duties for this role include:
Instruction and Learning
- Assume primary responsibility for the daily operation, organization, and instructional quality of the assigned classroom.
- Create and maintain a safe, engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the academic, social-emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development of all children.
- Maintain classroom organization, learning centers, materials, and displays that promote child engagement and align with program expectations.
- Implement curriculum aligned with Nevada Pre-K Standards and NR!PK requirements.
- Develop and implement daily and long-range lesson plans using research-based instructional strategies and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the ne
- eds of all children, including children with disabilities, English language learners (ELLs), children identified as at-risk, and children demonstrating advanced skills.
- Maintain active supervision of children at all times and ensure compliance with staff-to-child ratios and safety requirements.
- Utilize positive behavior guidance strategies to promote self-regulation, social skills, and a positive classroom culture.
- Conduct developmental screenings, assessments, observations, and progress monitoring; analyze child data to inform instruction, individualized supports, required reporting, and positive child outcomes.
- Implement required reporting systems and assessment tools for Nevada Ready! Pre-K and BGCSNV Early Childhood Learning outcomes.
Child Support Services
- Coordinate and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), accommodations, and support plans as assigned.
- Collaborate with specialists, therapists, service providers, and school district personnel to support children with diverse learning needs.
- Monitor child progress and implement interventions and supports as needed.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and conferences related to child development and support services.
Compliance and Records Management
- Maintain compliance with BGCSNV policies and procedures, NR!PK requirements, Nevada Child Care Licensing regulations, Southern Nevada Health District requirements, and applicable state and federal laws.
- Maintain ownership of classroom documentation, attendance records, child files, assessment data, family communication records, and required NR!PK documentation.
- Ensure classroom records and documentation remain accurate, current, organized, and audit-ready at all times.
- Utilize Brightwheel and other approved systems to maintain attendance, child records, family communication, and required program documentation.
- Ensure all reports, documentation, assessments, and records are accurate, current, and submitted on time.
- Promptly report incidents, hazards, suspected abuse or neglect, and concerns affecting the health, safety, or well-being of children, staff, or visitors.
- Participate in safety planning, emergency preparedness activities, and licensing compliance efforts.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment and participate in daily cleaning, sanitizing, and organizational duties.
Family and Community Engagement
- Develop and maintain positive, respectful, and collaborative relationships with families and caregivers.
- Communicate regularly with families using Brightwheel and other approved methods regarding child progress, classroom activities, developmental milestones, and program expectations.
- Encourage family participation in classroom, Center, and BGCSNV activities and events.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with administrators, ECL and BGCSNV staff, families, community partners, and service providers.
- Participate in family engagement activities, enrollment events, and community outreach efforts.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, professional development activities, coaching sessions, and required certifications.
- Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and training hours.
- Work collaboratively with Center staff to support program goals, child success, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Assist in maintaining classroom materials, equipment, and learning environments.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in all aspects of the position.
- Participate in other job-related duties and activities as assigned.
Classroom Team Leadership
- Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and support to assistant teachers, aides, substitutes, and classroom volunteers.
- Support and coach other teachers and aides on developmentally appropriate practices, classroom management strategies, curriculum implementation, child engagement, and positive behavior guidance techniques.
- Model effective instructional practices, classroom management techniques, and professional conduct.
- Assist classroom staff in implementing lesson plans, classroom routines, transitions, and individualized supports for children.
- Provide ongoing feedback and encouragement to promote staff growth and continuous improvement.
- Delegate classroom responsibilities appropriately to ensure efficient classroom operations.
- Collaborate with classroom staff to maintain a positive, productive, and inclusive learning environment.
Other Duties
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
- Assist with BGCSNV events, initiatives, and special projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and/or Abilities
Must possess one of the following:
- Nevada Department of Education Early Childhood Teaching License;
- Nevada Registry Level 5.2 or higher; or
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE);
- Bachelor's Degree in any field and participation in a state-approved Alternative Route to Licensure (ARL) program in Early Childhood Education;
- Bachelor's Degree in any field with at least 35 post-secondary credits in Early Childhood Education; or
- Bachelor's Degree in any field and current enrollment in the TEACH Early Childhood® program.
In addition, the preferred candidate will have:
- Minimum of 4,000 hours of verifiable experience in a licensed childcare facility.
- Current membership in the Nevada Registry.
- Experience working with children with diverse learning needs, including children with disabilities and children who are English language learners.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, classroom management, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally with families, staff, community partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Brightwheel, curriculum management systems, child information systems, and data reporting platforms.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
