Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Metal Fabrication Shop Foreman to lead our fabrication team in delivering high-quality metal products. In this role, you will oversee daily shop operations, coordinate fabrication projects, and ensure safety and efficiency standards are met. Duties
- Supervise daily shop activities, including cutting, welding, assembly, and finishing of metal components
- Coordinate fabrication schedules, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources effectively to meet project deadlines
- Lead and mentor shop personnel in proper use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and industry standards like AWS (American Welding Society) standards throughout all operations
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to guide production processes
- Oversee quality control by inspecting materials, measuring dimensions with precision tools, and verifying compliance with specifications
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment while managing inventory of metal materials and consumables such as gases for welding
Requirements
- Proven experience in metal fabrication shop environments with a strong background in mechanical fabrication and construction site experience
- Extensive knowledge of welding techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding processes
- Skilled in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints for accurate fabrication and assembly
- Proficiency with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and shop math for precise measurements
- Ability to operate construction site equipment including cranes and machining tools safely and efficiently
- Familiarity with plasma cutting, sheet metal fabrication, assembly processes, machining operations, and use of power tools
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent leadership skills to manage a diverse team effectively
- Commitment to safety protocol adherence with experience implementing safety procedures on the shop floor
- Valid experience with construction site projects involving steel structures or metal materials is highly desirable
