Own the Shift. Lead the Team. Drive Safe Production.
At MFG Chemical, we’ve built a reputation for stability and growth since 1980 by doing things the right way—especially when it comes to safety and operations.
We’re hiring a Lead Chemical Operator / Shift Supervisor to take ownership of shift performance, lead a team of operators, and ensure our production runs safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
This is a hands-on leadership role—you’ll be on the floor, guiding the team, making decisions, and setting the standard.
Chemical plants play a crucial role in various industries by producing essential chemicals used in manufacturing processes. The shift supervisor is responsible for assisting the plant manager in maintaining a positive team environment. Shift supervisors assist in training, product knowledge and encourage safe work practices. This position directly supervises the plant chemical operators and acts as the manager on duty in the absence of the manager. The shift supervisor will also be required to operate chemical processing systems according to batch record instructions in a safe, efficient and clean manner. Also, the shift supervisor should recognize operational hazards such as, pressure/temperature extremes, rapid-reaction/explosion risks, personnel exposure risks, environmental containment risks, and etc.
What You’ll Do
- Lead day-to-day shift operations in a batch chemical manufacturing environment
- Supervise and support chemical operators to ensure safe, efficient production
- Act as the manager on duty when plant leadership is not on site
- Operate chemical processing systems according to batch instructions as needed
- Monitor processes and quickly identify safety, quality, or operational risks
- Enforce and uphold all SOPs, EHS policies, and production standards
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and floor coverage during your shift
- Train, coach, and develop team members
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain clear, consistent communication across teams and leadership
What We’re Looking For:
You’re a leader first and an operator second.
You will be responsible for the safety, performance, and accountability of your shift.
This includes addressing performance issues, enforcing standards, and making real-time decisions.
This role requires a hands-on leader who is actively engaged on the production floor.
If you prefer a primarily desk-based or administrative role, this position will not be a fit.
This position requires the confidence to stop work, challenge unsafe conditions, and enforce safety standards—regardless of production pressure.
This is a working supervisor role in an industrial environment, not a supervisory role removed from operations.
Successful candidates are those who take ownership, drive results, and continuously improve operations—not just maintain them.
We are looking for individuals who are proactive, engaged, and willing to lead from the front—not individuals seeking a low-responsibility role.
You bring:
- A strong safety mindset and the confidence to enforce it
- The ability to make sound decisions in real time
- Leadership presence—your team listens because you lead by example
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- A hands-on approach—you’re actively engaged on the production floor

- PLEASE NOTE: Candidates without prior experience leading teams in a manufacturing or chemical production environment will not be considered.
