Position Summary:
Brock-Civil is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Low Boy Truck Driver & Equipment Operator to support site development operations throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area. This position is responsible for the safe transportation of heavy construction equipment to and from job sites while also operating various pieces of earthwork and site development equipment as needed. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong work ethic, commitment to safety, operational flexibility, and the ability to support multiple aspects of site development projects to ensure production goals are achieved efficiently and safely.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining equipment availability, supporting field operations, and contributing to the successful completion of grading, utility, and infrastructure projects. The responsibilities have been adapted from Brock-Civil's existing haul truck and equipment operator position description.
- Valid CDL Class A driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload heavy construction equipment using a low boy trailer.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspections, load securement requirements, and transportation safety standards.
- Experience operating construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, rollers, bulldozers, skid steers, and articulated haul trucks.
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain accurate inspection documentation.
- Understanding of grading, earthwork, and site development operations.
- Ability to identify and report equipment maintenance needs and mechanical issues.
- Strong awareness of job site safety practices, OSHA requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Effective verbal communication skills with supervisors, dispatch personnel, mechanics, and field crews.
- Ability to read and understand equipment operating manuals, safety procedures, and work instructions.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented mindset.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Willingness to assist with general labor and additional site development duties when operational needs require.

Maintain valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Days and hours of work vary based on job size and job location (40-55 hours weekly). Evening and weekend work is required as job duties demand.

- Familiarity with GPS-enabled fleet management or equipment tracking systems.
- NCCER Heavy Equipment Operations certification or similar industry credential.
- Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment in active construction environments.
- Experience working around underground utilities, stormwater systems, and roadway construction.
Education & Certifications
Required:

Experience

Minimum 3 years of experience operating commercial trucks and trailers in a construction environment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience transporting heavy construction equipment using low boy trailers.
- Experience operating heavy equipment on active grading, utility, roadway, or site development projects.
- Demonstrated ability to safely maneuver and transport equipment in varying site conditions and congested construction environments.
- Experience performing daily inspections, equipment servicing, and documenting maintenance concerns.
