JOB DESCRIPTION: Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) / Physician Assistant

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP or related license) eligible for licensure in the States of Iowa and Illinois or eligible; Board-certified or Board-eligible; complete or be eligible to complete requirements for the practice of medicine in the States of Iowa and Illinois, including state agreements for payment of health services under Medicare and Medicaid; eligible for Drug Enforcement Agency permission to prescribe and maintain controlled substances.
HIGHLY PREFERRED: 2+ years of women’s health services provider experience
JOB DUTIES: The Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) will provide comprehensive, patient-centered healthcare to women across the lifespan, with a focus on reproductive, gynecologic, and preventive health. The WHNP collaborates with physicians, Certified Nurse Midwives, nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality clinical care, education, and counseling while promoting wellness and disease prevention. WHNP will provide a wide variety of women’s health services including but not limited to:
- Provide Gynecologic and reproductive healthcare, including routine exams, screenings, and preventive care
- Provide Obstetric care to low-risk OB patients - including prenatal, postpartum care
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions related to women’s health
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests (Pap smears, STI testing, pregnancy testing, etc.)
- Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans in accordance with state scope-of-practice laws
- Educate patients on health promotion, disease prevention, and lifestyle management
- Provides at least the minimum scheduled hours of office practice; carries out supervisor preceptorships of extended staff and other appropriate educational preceptorships; participates in appropriate professional continuing medical education as appropriate to physicians’ individual information needs and maintain licensure; maintain knowledge of community resources for both social and medical referrals.
