As a Utility Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the construction and maintenance of wet utility projects, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently. What you’ll do
- Supervise daily operations on construction sites, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Manage project scheduling to ensure timely completion of utility projects.
- Oversee budgeting processes and construction to maintain financial efficiency throughout project lifecycles.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and contracts to guide construction activities effectively.
- Implement quality control measures to uphold the highest standards in all utility installations.
- Utilize HCSS HeavyJob for project documentation and collaboration with team members.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to team members, fostering a positive work environment that encourages growth.
- Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, address issues promptly, and ensure adherence to project specifications.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction management with a focus on wet utility projects (i.e., water mains, sewer mains, storm water management, storm drain
- Strong supervising experience with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 3 years in a superintendent role.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operations and pipeline installation techniques.
- Knowledge of quality control protocols and best practices in construction.
- Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, equipment, materials, and safety standards.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams of field workers and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of construction schedules, cost tracking, and quality control processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, team members, and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in HCSS Heavy Job and MS Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites across Maryland.
- OSHA 30-hour certification is required; OSHA 40-hour certification and First Aid/CPR certifications are a plus.
- Valid MTBMA issued Temporary Traffic Control Manager Card and Erosion & Sediment Control Yellow Card (preferred)
