Overall Responsibility: This position is responsible for ensuring the upkeep of solid dose tablets and capsules tooling is ready for use by means cleaning, polishing, and measurement checks for required tooling specifications in accordance with FDA regulatory requirements as well as company procedures and polices.
Use measuring equipment and tools to inspect the condition of tablet and capsule tooling parts (Calipers, micrometer, vernier caliper, feeler gauges, Dremel tool, bench buffer/grinder wheel, dial indicator, die bore gauge, go no-go gauges)
- Clean and store machine tooling after each use with the specified cleaning agents and storage containers
- Inspect tablet and capsule tooling before and after use to make sure that each is free of defects and meet critical dimensions necessary for optimal performance and reliability (punches, dies, pins, rings, segments, dosing disc, cams, die screws, etc.)
- Accesses the ware of tablet and capsule tooling regularly and replace worn or damaged tooling if necessary
- Arrange and identify tooling that is ready for use on the production floor by completing internal tooling check sheets/forms
- Communicate with the Production Operator Leads and document concerns surrounding the handling of machine tooling when the tooling is issued to tablet/capsule operations and returned to the tooling department after use
- Notify the Production Supervisor of any uncommon defects or damage noticed on tooling during cleaning or inspection
- Keep inventory of tablet and capsule tooling to accommodate the number of machines run daily
- Communicate with the maintenance team for worn or damaged parts that are unable to be reconditioned or repaired for optimal use
- Effectively working, interacting and communicating with co-workers and lead/supervisor.
