Job Summary
The Social is looking for a dependable, confident Security Team Member to join our team!
We are a busy neighborhood bar and restaurant with a close-knit, low-turnover team. Our security staff plays an important role in keeping The Social a safe, comfortable, and welcoming place for our guests and employees, especially during our busier nights and events.
This isn't a job where we are looking for someone to stand at the door and intimidate people. We're looking for someone who is observant, level-headed, professional, and able to communicate with people respectfully while still being firm when necessary.
You'll be responsible for monitoring the bar and surrounding areas (parking lot), checking IDs when needed, helping enforce house rules, identifying potential problems before they escalate, and assisting staff when a guest or situation needs to be addressed.
The best fit for this position is someone who can stay calm under pressure and understands that good security is often about preventing and de-escalating problems rather than creating confrontation.

PAY
$20/hr
Part-time evening and weekend position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor guest activity throughout the bar and parking lot
- Check IDs and help ensure guests meet legal age requirements
- Help enforce house rules and alcohol-related policies
- Watch for unsafe, disruptive, or concerning behavior and address situations before they escalate
- Assist bartenders, servers, and management when dealing with difficult or intoxicated guests
- Use calm, respectful conflict-resolution and de-escalation techniques whenever possible
- Assist with safely removing guests from the property when necessary
- Monitor entrances, exits, parking areas, and other assigned areas
- Help maintain safe crowd flow during busy nights, live music, and special events
- Respond appropriately to medical, safety, or security situations and notify management or emergency services when necessary
- Communicate concerns and incidents clearly with management and other staff
- Document significant incidents when requested
- Maintain a professional and approachable presence while on duty
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Previous security, bar, restaurant, military, law enforcement, or similar experience is preferred but not required
- Must be dependable and consistently show up for scheduled shifts
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to remain calm and make good decisions in stressful situations
- Comfortable interacting with intoxicated or upset guests professionally
- Able to be firm and enforce boundaries without unnecessarily escalating situations
- Strong situational awareness and attention to surroundings
- Ability to work well with bartenders, servers, kitchen staff, and management
- Evening and weekend availability
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing and walking for long periods and assisting in emergency situations when necessary
