NOW HIRING - NURTURING LEAD TEACHERS (Full-time) and ASSISTANT TEACHERS (Part- time / Full-time positions)
The St. John the Divine Early Learning Center is seeking to hire enthusiastic, dedicated and nurturing Lead and Assistant Teachers to join our amazing team. We serve infants through VPK students and are open until 7 am until 6pm Monday through Friday.
Teachers are responsible for the supervision, management and care of a class of young children and infants. They provide a loving, nurturing, safe, stimulating, Christian environment that promotes the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement daily lesson plans and classroom routines aligned with the center’s curriculum.
- Maintain a warm, engaging, and orderly classroom that encourages learning and exploration.
- Ensure constant attention to children’s health, safety, and well‑being.
- Conduct daily health checks, ongoing developmental assessments, and maintain required documentation.
- Clean and sanitize equipment and participate in classroom and playground housekeeping.
- Communicate regularly with parents about children’s progress and needs.
- Build positive relationships with families, staff, volunteers, and licensing authorities.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and participate in school events and fundraising.
- Follow all health, safety, emergency, and regulatory procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for ages birth–5.

Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and frequently carry infants/children.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, push, and pull for extended periods.
- Must be able to push evacuation cribs, use an Epi‑Pen, and perform cleaning duties.
- Work occurs both indoors and outdoors in a childcare setting.
- Reasonable accommodations may be available.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Prior experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or educational setting preferred.
- Completion of DCF 45-hour training (or willingness to complete)
- CDA , degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent), or Early Childhood Education coursework is a plus
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
