The District is establishing two separate eligibility lists. The first list is for internal/promotional candidates, and the second list is for external/lateral candidates, with priority given to the internal/promotional list. Practical assessments may consist of multiple job-related exercises, oral assessments or both to ensure a fair and equitable selection process for all candidates
Job Definition
Under general supervision of the Battalion Chief, the Fire Captain supervises the Fire Protection District and plans, develops, coordinates, and executes activities during an assigned shift. This position also includes, but is not limited to: responding to fire and other emergency calls, fighting fire, mitigating hazardous materials emergencies, and performing other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
· Must have three years of continuous service in the fire service, including progressively increasing supervisory experience, and must currently serve as a Fire Engineer with the North Central Fire Protection District OR Completed probation as Fire Captain (any agency) OR 3 years’ experience as a permanent Fire Engineer (any agency) with progressively increasing supervisory experience.
· Must possess a California State Fire Marshal Company Officer OR IFSAC/ProBoard Fire Officer II certification within one year of appointment.
· High School/GED + 30 college units
· Must possess a California State Fire Marshal Firefighter I/II certification or equivalent.
· Must possess and maintain EMT and CPR certification while holding the position.
· ICS 200, 700, 800
· Must maintain a valid California Driver License with a firefighter endorsement from the Department of Motor Vehicles while holding the position.
