JOB DESCRIPTION -

The Records Management Team is a part of the Policy, Ethics and Records Unit in the Law Department. Reporting to the Executive Director of Policy and Procedures and the Former Student Records Lead, the Records Management Part Time/Seasonal Employee will support members of the Former Student Records Team in carrying out its mission to efficiently manage current and former student records and timely fulfill records requests in accordance with all local, state and federal laws. This is a part-time position 24 of hours per week and does not qualify for benefits.
The Records Management Part Time support will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
Processing former student records requests
Filing and organizing student records
Answering phones and responding to email inquiries
Light work involving lifting up to 25 pounds (e.g. a case of paper records)
Other duties as assigned
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Records Management Part Time support must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
Experience Required:
1 year experience providing excellent customer service
1 year experience working in a warehouse setting providing warehouse/clerical support (preferred)
1 year data entry experience (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong communication skills (speaking, listening, and writing) and attention to detail
Strong project management and organizational skills
Effective strategic planning capabilities, including the ability to establish long-term vision and goals, and align/manage activities toward goal fulfillment
Ability to define problems, analyze data, and outline valid conclusions and action steps
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with programs such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Google Suite
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
