Job Summary
Overall responsibilities and duties: The role of a CMM Technician is to validate Quality First Piece, Samples, Gages, and Line/Vendor Sample Audit Parts are correctly laid out, measured, and correlate with existing or modified prints. They will work with Quality Lab and Quality Lab customers to provide the measurement data for the Plant to comply with the requirements of the Faurecia Excellence System with consideration to customers, Quality, Division, Business Groups, and Corporate Quality guidelines.
The main missions of the role are:
- Perform CMM layouts and provide measurement data
- Maintain and comply with all Calibration schedules
- Validate accurately plant data, gages, layouts, PPAP’s, customer returns, and scraped parts; capturing Quality information
- Perform and improve Quality Lab procedures and standards in accordance with the Faurecia Excellence System
- Ensure the Plant Quality Lab and Shop measurement system is in compliance with all Safety and regulation standards
- Report Quality results to all relevant parties and maintain Quality records and documentation using approved quality tools, gages, CMM, FARO Arms, and associated equipment
- Properly and accurately interpret standards, specifications, and procedures
- Coordination of testing required with suppliers and/or customers
- Assist other sectors in new developments
- Make a blocking notice if nonconformity is detected and sends the information to the persons in charge
- Declare any new equipment suitable for use after checking that the calibration certificate is present and updates the inspection, measurement, and test equipment files
- Manages calibration schedules, measurement standards and define the measuring channels
- Make statistical studies for the measurement systems
- Provide Training to Supervisors, GAP Leaders, and Manufacturing Associates to properly validate production and pre-production parts through the use of measurement instruments
- Maintain clean and safe work environment in line with company policies
- Commit to the corporate goals, mission, and vision
- Assist with any additional tasks as assigned by the Company
- Any other assigned tasks
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have/be:
Minimum education level: Technical Degree or experience in Quality, Engineering or Tool & Die Journeyperson certification
Experience:
o Customer relationship experience
o Sheet metal/Stainless steel Manufacturing experience, preferably in the automotive industry
o Microsoft Office experience: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Physical Requirements:
- Job involves lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, exerts 25 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and exerts 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Requires pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, walking, gripping and bending
- High mental and visual effort required
- Works in, around and beneath equipment
Skills and competencies:
- Familiarity with Quality Basics in Production (Poke Yoke, Final Inspection, Etc.)
- Ability to interpret specifications and drawings
- Solid knowledge of GD&T, Tolerancing, Metrology Skills, and applied Quality tools (Ferro Arm/CMM) in Production, ASQ Mechanical Inspector certification preferred.
- Advance knowledge of MS (Measurement Systems Analysis) preferred
- Understanding of Gage R & R studies, DOE, Capability studies, cut & etch weld techniques and validations preferred
- Quality and Manufacturing process orientation preferred
- Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies (8D, PDCA, 5 Whys, etc.), and Variability reduction
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborates with others
