The Recruiter, Retention, and Alumni Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing The Excel Center’s mission by leading recruitment, retention, and alumni engagement efforts for adult learners. This full-time, year-round position serves two campuses—either Hammond and Gary or Elkhart and South Bend—and supports students 18 and older as they work to earn their Indiana Core 40 high school diploma.
The Recruiter, Retention, and Alumni Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing recruitment strategies, conducting outreach to prospective students, supporting retention through proactive engagement, and managing alumni initiatives. The role collaborates closely with life coaches, teachers, and campus leadership to identify and support at-risk students, maintain accurate records of student and alumni engagement, and build strong relationships with community partners. By combining organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills, this position helps students succeed academically and professionally while fostering long-term connections that support The Excel Center’s mission of providing a second chance to adult learners.
Compensation:
$45,000 yearly
Responsibilities:-
Conduct regular student check-ins to identify barriers to retention and provide proactive support
- Partner with the marketing team to develop outreach materials and coordinate visits from community partners
- Collaborate with life coaches, teachers, and campus leaders to re-engage at-risk or withdrawn students and support retention
- Conduct outreach to prospective students, including regular school visits and community events, to attract and engage adult learners
- Develop and manage alumni engagement efforts while building relationships with community partners
Qualifications:-
Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred but not required
- Comfortable with public speaking and actively engaging with diverse community groups
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, communications, social work, or a related field
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across two campuses
- Active involvement in or strong connections to the local community
