Position summary
The Special Education Coordinator serves as primary liaison between the ABA clinic, families, and school districts to ensure a successful transition from clinic based services to educational settings. This role provides guidance and advocacy throughout the special education process, helping families understand their rights, navigate evaluations and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and access appropriate educational services. The coordinator works collaboratively with BCBAs, therapists, educators, and school personnel to promote continuity of care and positive educational outcomes for each child.
Essential Responsibilities
- Guide families through the transition from ABA services to preschool, kindergarten, or other school placements.
- Educate families about special education process, including evaluations, eligibility, IEP development, procedural safeguards and available educational supports.
- Attend IEP meetings as a parent support person and collaborate with school teams to advocate for appropriate educational programming and services.
- Coordinate communication between the ABA clinical team, families and school personnel to ensure consistency in behavioral and educational goals.
- Built collaborative partnerships with local school districts, early childhood programs.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in special education.
- Bilingual skills are a plus
- Ability to establish trusting relationships with families, educators and clinical professionals.
Pay: $32,500.00 - $65,000.00 per year
