We're hiring a DevOps Engineer to join our platform team in Kansas City. You'll own the infrastructure and deployment pipelines that our engineering teams rely on every day, with real autonomy to improve how we build, ship, and run software. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys automating away toil and takes pride in systems that just work.
The details up front
- Schedule: Full-time, hybrid. Three days per week in our Kansas City office, two remote
- On-call: One week in six on a paid rotation, with a follow-the-sun handoff that keeps overnight pages rare
- Start: Interviews within two weeks of application. The process is a recruiter call, a technical interview, and a practical exercise. No whiteboard puzzles
- Visa: Applicants must be authorized to work in the US. We are not able to sponsor visas for this role at this time
What you'll work on
- Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (we use GitHub Actions and ArgoCD) so teams can deploy confidently, multiple times a day
- Managing our AWS infrastructure with Terraform, including EKS clusters, RDS, and networking
- Improving observability across services using Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog
- Hardening our Kubernetes platform: autoscaling, cost optimization, and security baselines
- Writing automation in Python and Bash to eliminate manual, repetitive work
- Partnering with development teams on incident response, postmortems, and reliability improvements
- Contributing to our infrastructure roadmap, including an ongoing migration from ECS to EKS
What we're looking for
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, platform engineering, or systems engineering
- Solid experience with at least one major cloud provider (we're on AWS, but strong Azure or GCP experience transfers)
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform
- Working knowledge of containers and Kubernetes in production
- Scripting ability in Python, Bash, or similar
- Comfort troubleshooting Linux systems and networking issues under pressure
Nice to have (genuinely optional, not secretly required):
- Experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD, Flux)
- Exposure to security and compliance tooling (SOC 2 environments, vulnerability scanning)
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading small infrastructure projects
- AWS certifications
If you meet most of the required list but not every line, we'd still encourage you to apply.
What we offer
- $98,000 base salary with annual reviews and a performance bonus
- 401(k) with 4% company match, vested immediately
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage, with the majority of premiums employer-paid
- 20 days PTO plus 10 company holidays, and PTO is genuinely encouraged, not just accrued
- $1,500 annual learning budget for certifications, conferences, and courses
- Modern tooling and real influence. Our platform team of five has a direct voice in what we adopt and build
- Relocation assistance available for candidates moving to the Kansas City area
