Do you enjoy serving your community? The City of Livingston, Montana is hiring full-time 911 Communications Officers who will be responsible for performing dispatch duties for first responders throughout Park County, Montana.
Work Location: In person at 414 E. Callender St. Livingston, MT 59047
Job Type: Full-time, year-round
Rate of Pay: starting at $26.60 per hour, additional shift differential for all hours worked between 7:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
Shifts: Shifts range from 8-hour to 12-hour shifts depending on schedule. Must be able to work any shifts to include days, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications for Success:
· Ability to work well under pressure
· Ability to communicate effectively with callers and emergency responders
· Must have the ability to prioritized calls
· High attention to detail with accuracy
· Strong customer service skills and ability to handle complex customer calls
· Ability to gather information from several sources at once and accurately disseminate that information to responders
· Ability to have familiarity with the City of Livingston and Park County geography and locations
· Ability to multitask and work with frequent interruptions
· Must maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity
· Ability to record information including names, numbers, and addresses accurately into computer systems by typing
· Answers non-emergency calls and provides information and/or assistance as quickly as possible
· Works with multiple computer monitors and various computer programs simultaneously
· Emergency services experience preferred
Education:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
Requirements:
· Requires regular, punctual attendance
· Ability to accurately type/keyboard with proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation
· Minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience preferred
· In emergency or disaster situations, employees may need to remain on shift if other coverage is not available
· Ability to speak English clearly and verbally communicate at a rapid speech rate under stressful, confusing and/or hectic circumstances
· Ability to work in a team environment and maintain good working relationships with all City and County personnel and with the public
· Montana criteria based Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification required within one (1) year of hire (employer paid)
· If not already certified, new communications officers are expected to complete Montana Public Safety Communicator Basic Academy within one (1) year of hire (employer paid)
· As a condition of hire, the final candidate will be required to successfully pass an extensive criminal history and background check
· Additional paid training required after hire include Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR, Telephone Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (TCPR) course, FEMA Emergency Management Courses, 100, 200, and 700
· Position requires Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN) full access within six (6) months of hire
· within thirty (30) days of employment as a condition of their employment, emergency service workers and other employees whose position may require them to be called to work for an emergency or to provide essential public services, and who work more than 870 hours in any calendar year, shall reside within such proximity to their work place that they can respond to their work place within 30 minutes from his/her residence on dry roads and within 25 minutes in bad weather without violating any law of the state of Montana or the City of Livingston.

· This position requires the use of headphones and telephones to communicate with callers and first responders.
· Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing which permits the employee to comprehend questions, requests, and instructions and ability to communicate them effectively.
· Sufficient vision which permits the employee to review a wide variety of materials in electronic or hardcopy form, and in-person.
· Sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to operate necessary office equipment including computers, keyboard, mouse, headset, telephones, radios, etc.
· This job is performed indoors in a climate controlled office environment that includes frequent interruptions.
· May occasionally lift between 10 to 25 pounds. May occasionally lift over 25 to 50 pounds with assistance.
