Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool and Toddler Assistant Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a genuine love for working with young children. The Preschool and Toddler Assistant Teacher is responsible for ensuring the care and well-being of young children, assisting with potty training, and fostering positive relationships with students, families, and the community. This position is part time with the possibility to work more hour as an on-cal substitute.
Duties
- Assist in daily preparation and upkeep of classroom.
- Prepare classroom activities and curriculum materials according to Lead Teacher.
- Supervise classroom as directed by Lead Teacher.
- Repair classroom materials or apparatus as necessary or directed.
- Assist with the maintenance of classroom inventory.
- Share the responsibility of constructive parent relations to facilitate their security and trust in the School.
- Share the responsibility for the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times.
- Assist in the supervision of playground and lunchtime.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Ability to relate to children in a positive, sensitive and constructive manner.
- Willingness to learn and practice the principles of Montessori philosophy in early childhood education.
- Willingness to take direction, and exercise initiative where appropriate.
- Ability to manage groups of children, eliciting their cooperation, without undue authority.
- Ability to work as an effective and supportive member of a team.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in dealing with unusual or emergency situations.
- Physical stamina, including ability to lift and carry approximately 40 lbs.
- Ability to relate to parents in a supportive and professional manner.
- Emotional maturity and an abundance of patience and love.
