Join our dedicated team as an Intensive Peer Support Specialist and become a vital catalyst for recovery and resilience within our community. In this role, you will leverage your lived experience and professional training (2-3 Yrs of MH and/or SUD) to provide compassionate, empowering support to individuals navigating mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. Your energetic and motivational approach will foster hope, promote recovery, and help clients develop the skills needed for lasting wellness. Duties
- Provide peer-led support to individuals experiencing mental health conditions, substance use issues, or co-occurring disorders through one-on-one mentoring and group facilitation.
- Utilize crisis management skills to de-escalate situations, ensuring safety and stability for clients during challenging moments.
- Share personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and demonstrate the possibility of positive change.
- Employ motivational interviewing techniques to motivate clients toward goal setting and behavior change.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to develop individualized recovery plans that incorporate harm reduction strategies and client preferences.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client information in accordance with privacy laws and ethical standards.
- Advocate for clients’ needs by connecting them with community resources, social services, and support networks aligned with their goals.
- PDP development
- 12 hr face to face weekly per youth assigned
- 3 hr administrative 3 hr video and/or telephone
Skills
- Strong crisis intervention abilities combined with behavioral health expertise to respond effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Deep understanding of mental health counseling principles, addiction counseling, and social work practices.
- Experience working with culturally diverse communities, demonstrating sensitivity and adaptability in varied cultural contexts.
- Proven ability to work with individuals experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions using evidence-based approaches like harm reduction.
- Excellent client communication skills, including active listening, empathy, and sharing personal recovery stories responsibly.
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate client engagement and motivation for change.
- Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality while advocating for peer support principles in all interactions.
