Amentum is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to support our federal program in Washington, DC Our mission provides enterprise cloud services to one of our premier law enforcement agencies. The team is responsible for engineering, operations, and security of AWS accounts and Azure subscriptions and cloud migrations for enterprise and mission applications. We are fully cloud-based and focus on the automation of all tasks utilizing a fully implemented CI/CD pipeline. Pipeline includes an automated transfer of data/projects to multiple domains via a cross-domain solution. We utilize agile methodologies to plan projects and tasks and break them down into 2-week sprints.
We work to provide enhanced reporting and global searching capabilities to facilitate task management, cross-utilization, and address national intelligence priorities while protecting confidential data and sources. Our system is used by FBI agents and local law enforcement organizations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop cloud service delivery models and architectural framework to enable platform as a service (PaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), software as a service (SaaS), and data as a service (DaaS)
- Implement automation for cloud resources using DevSecOps best practices
- Analyze applications and make recommendations across multiple areas that identify what platforms can move, migrate, and/or be deployed into a cloud environment
- Provide strategies for failure/recovery, cost optimization and benefit analyses of cloud, cloud agnostic, and on-site premise services
- Develop and implement cloud applications, migrate existing on-premises applications to the cloud, debug cloud stacks, manage policies for the use of cloud services, requests for new technology, establish a secure cloud environment, ensuring appropriate availability/uptime design
- Work independently designing and developing new software products or major enhancements to existing cloud software
Required:
- ActiveTop-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or other related field plus 10 years of relevant work experience; years of experience considered in lieu of degree
- Required Certification: Cloud Practitioner Certification (or similar)
Minumum of 7 years of professional experience with the following:
- Major cloud service providers (Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, or Google)
- Performing significant research and development efforts or managing programs requiring comprehensive and innovative technical solutions, development and deployment activities on a private/public cloud solution or a comparable high availability environment
- Deploying and managing infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and/or Azure ARMs Templates
- Implementing and maintaining security best practices for cloud environment
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for cloud architecture, configurations, and processes
- Establishing and maintaining monitoring and alerting systems for cloud resources
- Optimizing cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency and performance
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to performance and availability
Preferred:
- Development Tools: Git source version control, Google DevOps project management, Static Application Security Testing (SAST, e.g. SonarQube, Gitlab SAST), Unit and integration testing (e.g., xunit, nunit), Automated testing, End-to-end testing (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber)
- Platforms: Attribute and role-based access control paradigms (ABAC/RBAC), Windows Service Fabric, Splunk administration, Windows and Linux server administration
- Business Analysis and Project Management: Agile Principles, DevOps, Splunk, JIRA, Confluence, Nessus, strong Excel experience, Experience implementing, reviewing, and providing recommendations on Cloud Security configurations, Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Linux, Cloud Associate Level or above Certification(s)
Work Schedule:
- Typically, Monday through Friday 8-hour days onsite; flexibility within a 2-week pay period to reach 80 hours
