The Route Driver will perform deliveries to customers and pick-up from vendors using a company provided truck. This role is vital to the success of Wipeco as it determines how quickly and efficiently customers receive orders and how quickly goods are received. Successful Route Driver will be knowledgeable in driving a delivery truck, maintain a clean driving record and a DOT medical card.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Pick up donated bagged/boxed goods from thrift stores in the Chicagoland area using Wipeco provided box truck
- Collect donated goods from CTR collection bins and bag any loose items
- Deliver orders to customers and pick up orders from vendors as needed
- Have customers sign for pick-ups and bring completed paperwork back to Wipeco so customers can be invoiced appropriately
- Load and unload truck at the beginning and end of each shift using pallet jacks or forklifts if certified and necessary
- Weigh gaylords/carts picked up from each store and record total weight, number of bags, and store name on pick up slips
- Turn completed paperwork in to CTR Director to be processed
- Maintain safe and clean work environment by checking condition of truck daily and completing DVIR to ensure any safety issues or maintenance concerns are addressed immediately
- Complete mileage tracking and fuel reports per state required guidelines
- Report any accidents or issues with deliveries to manager immediately
- Complete all stops along the assigned route each day and notify manager immediately if a stop cannot be made
- Bring gaylord boxes/carts of goods to the baling machines using pallet jacks or forklifts if certified and necessary
- Operate the baling machine in a clean and safe manner
- Move large compressed bales from baler to scale using forklift if certified, weigh them and mark on corresponding sheet for inventory purposes and move bales to proper staging area for transport
- Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times
- Unload materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stack them to assigned places
- Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment
- Assist with additional warehouse job duties
