Salary: $48,696 annually
Description of essential duties and responsibilities:

Responsible for maintaining the entire Center physical facility

Conducts periodic checks of all mechanical equipment and systems to ensure that they are operating and properly maintained

Develops a maintenance schedule for the entire facility and ensures that it is carried out

Ability to carry out operations safely and efficiently.

Will evaluate any maintenance problem and determine ability to complete the needed repairs; will make recommendations to the Facilities Supervisor for calling outside repair services

If outside repair services are called in, the maintenance tech will supervise them the entire time they are on Center property; if they are in secure areas of the Center, the maintenance technician will stay with the outside repair service providers the entire time or will request that a detention staff member stay with the provider the entire time

Will develop technical skills in areas that are prevalent needs in the Center

Will oversee the maintenance of security systems, locks, heating/air systems, cameras, plumbing, vehicles, yard tools, electrical and hand tools, telephones, etc.

Will keep a running inventory of all tools and maintenance supplies

Will create and maintain a maintenance request work order system to ensure that maintenance problems are being handled in a timely manner

Will come to work timely on a regular full-time basis

Will perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications for position:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must pass background, drug, and alcohol screening
Supervisory relationships:
This position reports directly to the Facilities Supervisor
Skills and knowledge required:
o HVAC systems, plumbing and electrical systems; how to repair and maintain them.
- Knowledge of auto mechanical systems, woodworking, telephone systems, locking mechanisms, intercom systems, camera systems and other security systems is desirable.
- Must be willing to seek training in areas of need for the Center.
- Must be physically able to restrain a juvenile should it become necessary and receive appropriate Handle with Care training.
Prior experience required must have minimum of 1 year of building maintenance experience, preferred experience for large building complex.
Personal qualities: Must be able to interact with peers and Center clients in a professional manner.
Amount of travel and other special conditions or requirements: Travel is required to carry out duties and attend training.
Work Schedule: 40-hour work schedule that will include rotating on call status as an essential employee to handle emergency problems; will report to work when needed to ensure security of the facility or to prevent damage to the facility.
