Restaurant & Bar Shift Lead

Position Overview
Cheesie's is seeking an energetic, dependable, and guest-focused Shift Lead to help oversee daily restaurant and bar operations. As the Manager on Duty during assigned shifts, you will play a critical role in ensuring exceptional guest experiences, maintaining operational standards, supporting team performance, and keeping service running smoothly during both routine and high-volume periods.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Management
- Act as the primary leader on duty during assigned shifts.
- Lead with professionalism, urgency, and a positive attitude.
- Delegate tasks and ensure completion of opening, mid-shift, and closing responsibilities.
- Coach team members on service standards, cleanliness, and workplace expectations.
- Recognize outstanding performance and address issues promptly and respectfully.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate goals, specials, menu updates, and operational priorities.
Guest Experience
- Deliver and promote exceptional hospitality at all times.
- Monitor dining room and bar service to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Resolve guest concerns using effective recovery techniques and company standards.
- Support servers, bartenders, hosts, and kitchen staff during busy periods.
- Address elevated guest issues and document incidents when necessary.
Operations & Shift Execution
- Complete daily walkthroughs of front-of-house, back-of-house, bar areas, and restrooms.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness throughout the restaurant.
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish supplies as needed.
- Verify all POS systems and equipment are functioning properly.
- Maintain communication between front-of-house, kitchen, and management teams.
- Document important shift updates, maintenance concerns, and operational issues to the general manager.
Cash Handling & Administrative Duties
- Count and verify cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Reconcile sales, cash, and credit transactions accurately.
- Process approved comps, voids, and cash drops according to company policy.
- Complete required reports, logs, and manager communications.
- Ensure all opening and closing checklists are completed accurately.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company policies, food safety standards, and liquor service regulations.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, guest incidents, or workplace injuries.
- Complete incident reports and communicate urgent matters to management.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, bar, or hospitality leadership experience preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with POS systems (toast preferred) and cash handling.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant and bar environment.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and carrying of supplies and equipment.
