Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene in all kitchen areas
- Develop new sushi recipes and presentation styles to enhance menu offerings
- Manage ingredient inventory, ensuring freshness and proper storage of fish, rice, vegetables, and other supplies
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely service
- Educate junior staff on sushi techniques, knife skills, and presentation standards
- Uphold consistent quality control by tasting dishes and adjusting seasoning as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar culinary role specializing in Japanese cuisine
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, knife skills, and ingredient handling
- Ability to develop innovative recipes while maintaining traditional standards
- Excellent classroom management skills for training junior staff or conducting culinary demonstrations
- Experience with culinary curriculum development or teaching in a professional setting is a plus
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and sanitation practices
- Passion for culinary arts, especially in sushi making, with a keen eye for detail and presentation
