Senior Accountant
Full-Time Salary · In-Office · Maryland
Elite Pools is a fast-growing, family-run operation with two divisions — Elite Pools Service and Elite Pools Construction — serving Maryland homeowners with premium pool maintenance, repair, and custom pool builds. We are adding a Senior Accountant to our in-house accounting team as we grow and formalize our financial operations across both companies.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role working directly with our Director of Finance and Operations. You will be the accounting operations backbone of both companies — keeping the books clean, the compliance calendar current, and our month-end close running smoothly. You will work alongside an experienced accounting team and have a clear path to grow into a Controller role as the company scales.
If you are someone who takes pride in running a tight accounting operation, thrives on process and accuracy, and wants a role where your work genuinely matters to the business — this is for you.
What You'll Own
Accounting Operations — Both Companies
- Manage bank feeds and prepare bank reconciliations for both Elite Pools Service and Elite Pools Construction monthly
- Maintain QBO data integrity for both companies — identify and resolve duplicate entries, miscodes, and missing information
- Set up new vendors and customers in QuickBooks for both companies
- Generate and distribute monthly customer statements
- Manage the month-end close checklist for both companies — track completion and flag open items to the Director of Finance
- Support financial reporting by pulling and organizing data for management review
Compliance Calendar — Both Companies
- Own the master compliance calendar for both entities — business licenses, state annual reports, vehicle registrations, insurance renewals, and software subscriptions
- Send 60-day and 30-day advance renewal alerts to the appropriate owners and managers
- Prepare renewal packages for licenses and registrations — ready for leadership to review and sign
- Track and monitor all insurance policy renewal dates and coordinate with management
Tax and Vendor Administration
- Manage W-9 collection from all vendors and contractors — track outstanding requests and log completed forms in QBO
- Prepare 1099 data compilation for both companies annually — ready for CPA review and filing
- Ensure all vendor records in QBO are accurate and complete
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
- 4–8 years of accounting experience in a hands-on role — public accounting or private industry both considered
- Strong QuickBooks Online experience — you know the platform well and can maintain clean books across multiple entities
- Multi-entity accounting experience — comfortable managing books for two or more companies simultaneously
- Experience owning month-end close processes — you know what needs to happen, in what order, and how to keep it on track
- Detail-oriented and process-driven — your reconciliations are clean and your records are organized
- Experience managing compliance calendars, license renewals, or similar administrative accounting functions
- Strong written communication — you can document processes and communicate clearly with non-accounting staff

- CPA or CPA candidate — preferred but not required
- Experience in construction, home services, or project-based accounting — job costing and WIP familiarity a strong plus
- Experience with multi-entity intercompany accounting
- Familiarity with accounting for companies with both service and construction revenue streams
You're the Right Fit If You Are...
- Highly organized — you run a clean close every month without being chased
- Proactive — you flag issues before they become problems and own your calendar without reminders
- A process builder — you don't just complete tasks, you improve how they get done
- Collaborative — you work well alongside other accounting staff and communicate clearly up and down
- Growth-minded — you want to grow with a company and take on more responsibility over time
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where things continue to evolve
Growth Path
This role is designed with succession in mind. As our accounting team evolves, the right candidate will have a clear path to grow into a Controller role overseeing the full accounting function for both companies.
