Salento Italia is hiring an Assistant General Manager for our anticipated opening in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) works closely with the General Manager to ensure the smooth daily operation of the restaurant while supporting and developing the hospitality team.
This role is both operational and hands-on, helping lead the team during service while also assisting with staffing, scheduling, inventory management, and maintaining high standards for food quality, beverage service, and guest experience.
The AGM plays a key role in maintaining a positive team culture, ensuring the restaurant operates efficiently, and supporting the General Manager in driving sales, controlling costs, and delivering consistent hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Assist the General Manager in overseeing day-to-day restaurant operations
- Help lead and support front-of-house and service teams during shifts
- Organize and supervise opening and closing procedures
- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to hourly staff
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training team members
- Support employee onboarding and development
- Help maintain a positive, professional team culture
- Respond quickly and professionally to guest needs, feedback, and service recovery
- Assist in managing food, beverage, and operational inventory
- Place and track orders for restaurant supplies and bar products
- Receive and inspect deliveries to ensure quality and accuracy
- Assist with cost control, sales initiatives, and operational efficiency
- Conduct routine inventories and help monitor high-cost items
- Ensure the restaurant meets health department and cleanliness standards
- Support the General Manager with administrative tasks and operational reporting
- Lead or assist with pre-shift meetings and daily service communication
- Model teamwork and professionalism across all departments
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of restaurant management experience, preferably in full-service dining
- Prior Assistant General Manager or senior management experience preferred
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Experience with inventory systems and restaurant operational platforms
- Ability to stay organized and calm in fast-paced service environments
- Strong hospitality instincts and commitment to guest satisfaction
- Flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds

Pay: $48,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
