Summary
Our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practice is seeking a Patient Coordinator who exemplifies our practice values and brand. Our Patient Coordinators are the face of the practice and set the tone for each patient's experience, beginning with the very first interaction.
This role requires strong character, exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome patients with a friendly, professional, and helpful demeanor.
- Register and check in patients while ensuring all required paperwork, consents, and demographic information are completed prior to appointments.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage provider schedules using practice management software.
- Collect patient balances and accurately post payments to patient accounts.
- Answer and triage incoming phone calls to the appropriate department.
- Coordinate communication between patients, referring offices, and clinical staff.
- Verify insurance benefits for scheduled patients as needed.
- Manage high call volumes with efficiency, professionalism, and courtesy.
- Effectively manage scheduling to optimize patient flow and maximize provider productivity.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
- Comfortable using computers and learning practice management software.
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field.
- Previous medical office, dental office, insurance, or call center experience preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare or customer service environment.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Accountable, dependable, and open to feedback.
