Job Summary
SCDOT Preconstruction Surveys is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Survey Instrument Operator to join our team. As a key contributor, you will operate survey instruments, manage data collection processes, and support civil engineering projects with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will help ensure accurate mapping, topographical analysis, and infrastructure development, all while working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values innovation and accuracy. Responsibilities
- Operate survey equipment, total stations, and other land surveying instruments to collect precise geospatial data.
- Utilize Carlson data collection software to record measurements and instrument observations.
- Perform field measurements with hand tools and use bush axe to clear lines of sight to support topographical surveys.

Qualifications
- A high school diploma and two (2) years of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
- The physical demands for the essential functions involves frequent bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natual environmental hazards. May require occasional exposure to noise. May require working outside of normal work schedules and weekends.
Pay: $46,956.00 per year
