La Luz Early Childhood Center is looking for caring, dependable, and enthusiastic team members to join our early childhood program!
We are currently hiring for:
2 Assistant Teacher Positions
- Midday Assistant: 37.5 hours per week
- Closing Assistant: 32.5 hours per week
2 Substitute Teacher Positions
- Flexible scheduling
- Great opportunity to work with a variety of age groups

Qualifications
Applicants must have completed the 45-hour Early Childhood Entry Level Course. A Child Development Certificate/CDC is preferred.
Previous early childhood experience is a plus, and experience with inclusion or supporting children with diverse needs is strongly valued. FOCUS training is also a positive!
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting lead teachers in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment
- Supervising and interacting with children during play, meals, rest time, outdoor time, and daily routines
- Assisting with diapering, toileting, handwashing, and other personal care needs
- Helping implement age-appropriate, play-based activities
- Supporting children’s social-emotional development and positive behavior guidance
- Assisting with classroom cleaning, sanitizing, and organization
- Helping with meal service and encouraging healthy eating habits
- Maintaining active supervision at all times
- Following all health and safety practices, policies, and procedures — this is imperative
- Communicating professionally with children, families, and coworkers
- Working as part of a team to support an inclusive environment for all children
We are looking for team players who are nurturing, patient, dependable, and ready to support children as they learn, grow, and explore through play. Because we care for young children, applicants must understand that following health and safety practices consistently is an essential and non-negotiable part of the job.
Continuing Education Requirements
- 24+ hours/week worked: 24 hours of CE annually
- Under 24 hours/week worked: 12 hours of CE annually
Workplace Requirements
- Pre-employment drug screening required
- Ongoing monthly random drug testing
- Drug-free workplace (including cannabis-free)
Pay & Benefits
- Starting pay: $19.00/hour minimum (no experience or education in ECME)
- Higher pay based on education, credentials, and experience
