The Cultivation Lead is responsible for the daily operations of the Cultivation Team, with an emphasis on plant health. This role reports directly to the Head of Cultivation, and Cultivation Manager on all aspects of Cultivation, including irrigation cycling, nutrient management by crop stage, environmental set points, production sequencing, integrated pest management, and crop specific pruning, training, and trellising.
The Cultivation Lead is responsible for helping monitor the Cultivation Team throughout the day. The Lead is also responsible for overseeing day-to-day cultivation activities, educating the cultivation team, and always maintaining the health of the garden.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Cultivation Operations Management:
● Lead and manage day-to-day cultivation operations, including planting, cloning, watering, nutrient management, and harvesting.
● Maintain cultivation equipment and technologies to ensure crop health
● Enforce cultivation schedules to ensure timely production cycles
● Able to understand complex mechanical systems.
Team Leadership:
● Lead, train, and monitor the performance of Cultivation technicians providing constructive feedback
● Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages productivity and employee growth
Quality Control:
● Work with the Cultivation Manager and Director of Cultivation to implement and maintain rigorous quality control measures to ensure the production of high-quality cannabis
● Monitor and address any issues related to pests, diseases, or other cultivation challenges
Compliance & Regulation:
● Help establish, and implement S.O.P.’s, policies, and standards, including health, and safety requirements
● Ensure compliance with state and CCB regulations, industry standards, safety protocols, and licensing requirements
Skills & Qualifications:
● Must be 21 years of age or older
● Ability to pass a comprehensive background check as mandated by the Cannabis Control Board
● Minimum 1 year experience managing product, staff and resources in a large-scale commercial greenhouse, agricultural, or manufacturing setting
● Knowledge of cultivation techniques and processes, pesticide requirements, anti-microbial testing, and controlled contamination
● Demonstrated knowledge of growing methods, including pruning, equipment maintenance, transplanting, IPM practices, cleaning, and environmental management.
● Dedicated ability to achieve cultivation objectives in terms of volume, cost, and quality
● Working knowledge of plant diseases, insects, and fungi, as well as plant treatment options
● Thorough understanding of State and local cannabis laws and how they apply to the operations of the company
● Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
● Effective time management skills and ability to multitask
● Ability to work in a fast paced, changing, and challenging environment
● Ability to stand, sit, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods of time
