Position Summary:
Visuality, Inc. is seeking a passionate and organized Youth Coordinator to lead and support programming for LGBTQ+ youth in our community. This part-time, independent contractor role is responsible for planning and facilitating weekly youth drop-in nights, organizing monthly field trips, and leading a parent support group. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, cultural humility, and a commitment to fostering safe, affirming spaces for youth and families.
Key Responsibilities:
Weekly Youth Drop-In Night: Friday’s 6-8 PM
- Plan and facilitate weekly drop-in sessions, including educational, social, and arts based activities, submitting outlines to supervisor(s).
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ youth.
- Help coordinate chaperone coverage for drop in nights.
- Build positive relationships with participants while maintaining healthy boundaries.
Monthly Youth Field Trips:
- Organize and supervise monthly outings that are age-appropriate, engaging, and culturally enriching.
- Coordinate logistics including transportation, waivers, and chaperones as needed.
- Ensure all safety protocols and risk management procedures are followed.
Parent Support Group:
- Plan and facilitate a monthly support group for parent/caregivers of LGBTQ+ youth.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain attendance records and collect feedback from youth and families.
- Communicate programs updates and needs to the Executive Director or Board of
- Directors.
- Collaborate with other team members and community partners as needed.
- Submit hours worked in approved app or invoice format
Qualifications:
- Experience working with LGBTQ+ youth in a group or program setting
- Strong understanding of LGBTQ+ identities, youth development, and cultural competency.
- Ability to lead engaging activities and build rapport with diverse youth and families.
- Clear and professional communication skills.
- Reliable, organized, and able to manage events independently.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Youth Mental Health Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Background check required prior to start.
Position Details:
- This is a part time, 1099 Independent Contractor position.
- Must be available for weekly drop-in nights (Fridays 6-8 PM), monthly field trips, and monthly parents support groups.
- Approximately 8-10 hours per week.
- Hourly rate: $18-22/hour
