Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using aseptic technique to ensure specimen integrity
- Collect, label, process, and transport laboratory specimens following established protocols
- Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures clearly and ensuring patient comfort throughout specimen collection
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient physiology as needed to support safe specimen collection
- Maintain accurate documentation of all procedures, including specimen details and patient information
- Follow laboratory safety standards, including proper handling of biohazard materials and heavy lifting when necessary
- Assist with laboratory procedures such as specimen processing, preparation for testing, and maintaining equipment cleanliness
Requirements
- Proven experience in phlebotomy, venipuncture, and blood sampling within a clinical or hospital setting
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and medical terminology relevant to specimen collection
- Familiarity with anatomy knowledge and physiology to locate veins and ensure successful blood draws
- Certification or training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of laboratory techniques, sterile procedures, and aseptic technique
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks associated with specimen handling
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care
- Prior hospital or healthcare environment experience is advantageous but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates
