- Collect, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources to support business operations, program objectives, and strategic decision-making.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that communicate program performance, operational metrics, and actionable insights.
- Perform data profiling, validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities to ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.
- Analyze trends, patterns, and anomalies in complex datasets and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with business users, project teams, and technical resources to gather and document reporting and analytical requirements.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata, business rules, data definitions, calculations, and reporting documentation.
- Support data mapping, data conversion, and data validation activities for system implementations and modernization initiatives.
- Support user acceptance testing and validate reporting, dashboards, interfaces, and other data-related functionality.
- Perform ad hoc analysis for project initiatives, audits, compliance reporting, and management requests.
- Partner with technical teams to identify, investigate, and resolve data discrepancies and reporting issues.
- Support data governance initiatives and adherence to organizational data standards, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with knowledge transfer and provide guidance to end users utilizing reports and analytics solutions.
- Identify and communicate data-related risks, issues, dependencies, and impacts to project leadership.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst supporting business intelligence, reporting, data analysis, or analytics initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated experience interpreting complex datasets.
- Proficiency with SQL and relational databases for querying, analyzing, and validating data.
- Experience developing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, or similar platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including functions, pivot tables, and data analysis features.
- Experience with data profiling, data quality, data validation, and data governance practices.
- Experience gathering and documenting reporting and analytical requirements with business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience supporting large New York State government consulting engagements.
- Experience supporting Human Services or Health and Human Services programs and initiatives.
- Experience supporting system implementation, data conversion, or modernization projects.
- Experience working within Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
Educational & Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
