Automations & Tech Specialist
The Builder Who Ships the Execution Layer
Job Type: Full-Time Contractor (1099 equivalent). Part-time for the first 2 months, then full-time.
Pay: $1,500 to $2,200 USD / month (based on experience)
Location: Remote
Schedule: USA CST zone hours, 9am – 5pm. Twice-yearly launch seasons (10–12 weeks total) run at higher intensity, 7am – 7pm.
Reports To: Director of Operations
We're adding a second Automations & Tech Specialist because build demand has outgrown one person. Every funnel, automation, and workflow that powers our education company has to work perfectly, especially when 20,000+ people are in a live masterclass or 3,000+ students onboard at once. This seat owns the hands-on build layer: funnel builds, automations, and workflow updates across marketing and operations, so our systems architect can move up into n8n and infrastructure instead of living in daily builds. You're Claude-native, you think in logic flows, and you love the quiet satisfaction of zero broken automations.
WHO WE ARE
The Uncommon Business is the world's fastest-growing AI-first education company, teaching business leaders to architect intelligent systems, not just prompt tools. We don't do busywork, legacy thinking, or 80-hour founder weeks. We build companies where AI handles the repeatable, humans drive the irreplaceable, and leaders scale without burning out. We're profitable, EOS-driven, and operate in championship-level surge cycles. You'll be promoted on impact and ownership, not tenure. High performers thrive here. Passengers don't last.
IF YOU WORKED HERE LAST WEEK
You might have:
- Rebuilt the newsletter opt-in as a native GoHighLevel form, updated the automation, removed the old webhook, and tested it live
- Built a $97 tripwire on the back of a lead magnet in a single day, the checkout, thank-you page, products, and workflow, all live and tested
- Stood up a per-cohort masterclass system in GHL using Custom Values that removed 10+ manual steps every cycle, so a launch runs without a rebuild
- Migrated fragile hand-built HTML pages onto the funnel builder so each cohort became a config change instead of a fresh build
- Built an n8n error-handler that auto-retries failed automations and batches alerts into a digest, ending hours of daily error triage
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
We value ownership over task lists. Here's where you'll lead:
GoHighLevel Build Ownership. You build, optimize, and maintain automations, funnels, forms, pipelines, and membership portals inside GoHighLevel for marketing and student delivery. You're comfortable in GHL custom code, and you can take Claude-generated HTML and turn it into a live, tested page without hand-holding.
Automation Execution in n8n and GoHighLevel. You build and monitor the automations connecting our stack, GHL, Slack, Notion, Baserow, Thinkific, Supabase, and ManyChat, with zero broken workflows and fast escalation when a platform changes. New builds go into n8n, where you build error-handling and self-healing in, and you keep our legacy Zapier automations running while we migrate them over.
Marketing Funnel Delivery. You own the funnel and automation builds behind launches and campaigns, moving fast without dropping quality, so Marketing and Ops stop bottlenecking on a single builder.
First-Line Support, Monitoring, and Self-Healing. You're first responder when something breaks, diagnosing tag errors, workflow gaps, and integration failures within 24 hours, and you own the access and build requests coming through the intake queue. Then you automate the recurring ones out with error-handlers and batched alert digests so they stop coming back.
Documentation and Clean Handoffs. You document what you build with process maps and Loom walkthroughs so anyone can maintain it, and your handoffs never come back with questions.
WHAT YOU BRING
We hire humans, not checklists, but success here requires:
- You've built production automations in GoHighLevel and n8n or Zapier that handle hundreds of users and hold up under launch traffic, with real error handling, not just simple workflows
- You come in with n8n experience and want to grow it, and you're comfortable enough in GHL custom code to take a block of Claude-generated HTML and ship it live
- You're Claude-native and AI-first, using it daily to build faster, troubleshoot smarter, and document better, and you know when to verify by hand
- You think in process maps, and you can turn a messy workflow into a clean diagram with decision trees and live system links that anyone can follow
- You're detail-obsessed and stay calm under pressure. When 3,000 students are onboarding and something breaks, you investigate, fix, and communicate without panicking
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You own these key metrics:
Build Velocity: Complete 100% of assigned funnel, automation, and workflow builds on time and within scope, with tested functionality and clean handoff docs.
System Uptime: Maintain 99%+ reliability across the GoHighLevel and automation workflows you own, with zero critical failures during launch seasons.
Zero Broken Automations: Monitor and maintain your integrations with proactive testing and instant response when a third-party platform changes.
Launch Readiness: Deliver every launch-critical funnel and automation build ahead of go-live, tested end to end.
Documentation: Ship a process map and Loom for 100% of custom builds, kept current as systems change.
SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS
Launch Season Expectations:
Our launch seasons are intentionally high-intensity and fast-paced to drive transformation for our clients and our team. Twice per year (10–12 weeks total), team members in launch-critical roles are expected to be available from 7 AM to 7 PM, with additional hours often required for preparation, execution, live event support, and post-launch debriefs.
This pace is not for everyone, and that's okay. We set this expectation clearly so that only those who thrive in high-accountability, high-impact environments choose to be here.
In return, you'll be part of a team that moves fast, solves real problems, and builds meaningful outcomes. You'll grow rapidly, work alongside exceptional talent, and contribute to work that truly matters. Outside launch seasons, workload is sustainable and strategic, focused on building the systems that make the next launch even stronger.
