Description of the Sample Receiving Technician:
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming samples against accompanying documentation.
· Log samples and relevant sample details into the laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
· Assign and apply proper identification labels on samples and paperwork to maintain traceability.
· Communicate with clients or internal teams regarding sample discrepancies or missing information.
· Prepare and distribute samples to the appropriate laboratory departments.
· Communicate with the lab departments and management to properly prioritize samples.
· Maintain sample storage conditions (e.g., refrigeration) according to requirements.
· Ship samples for external analysis with completed sample analysis instructions.
· Drive company vehicle to pick up and drop off samples, as required. *Only after hired as an SGS employee.
· Prepare sampling kits and stock sample bottles.
· Assist with general laboratory housekeeping and inventory management.
· Follow strict safety, quality control, and chain-of-custody procedures.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the Sample Receiving Technician:
· Strong attention to details including, but not limited to sample IDs, matrix, temperature, holding times, labels, chains of custody, dates, analysis requested and required turnaround time.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
· Basic computer skills.
· Ability to work full time (40 hrs.) Monday-Friday approximately 8am-5pm

Work Schedule of the Sample Receiving Technician:
- Day shift: 8 AM - 5 PM approximately
Required Education/Experience:
Preferred: Prior laboratory or similar technician experience.
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
