What You’ll Do
As a Sales Engineer, you will work with customers, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal sales and preconstruction teams to develop technical solutions and support commercial mechanical project opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop value-driven mechanical solutions for commercial customers
- Prepare budgets, cost estimates, scopes, and technical proposals for HVAC and mechanical projects
- Support design-build and complex commercial mechanical opportunities
- Serve as a technical resource during sales and preconstruction
- Review project scope, risks, timelines, delivery approach, and customer expectations
- Work with customers to understand project needs and recommend practical solutions
- Partner with internal teams to align pricing, scope, schedule, and proposal strategy
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to support accurate pricing and project planning
- Support value engineering and help identify cost-effective mechanical solutions
- Build and maintain strong customer, engineer, vendor, and subcontractor relationships
- Stay current on relevant codes, standards, and industry requirements
What We’re Looking For
Required qualifications:
- Experience in mechanical construction, HVAC sales engineering, estimating, preconstruction, mechanical design, or a related role
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems
- Knowledge of ductwork, plumbing, piping, and building mechanical systems
- Experience preparing estimates, budgets, scopes, proposals, or project pricing
- Customer-facing experience with strong communication skills
- Ability to explain technical information clearly to customers and internal teams
- Strong organization, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Construction, Construction Engineering Management, or a related field
- Experience with design-build mechanical projects
- Experience working with general contractors, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors
- Business development or customer relationship experience
- Familiarity with preconstruction, value engineering, and proposal development
