Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a friendly and professional front desk experience
- Manage appointment scheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and facilitate insurance verification processes
- Collect and review patient information, including medical history and documentation review for accuracy and completeness
- Handle medical billing and coding tasks, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding for accurate recordkeeping
- Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) confidentiality policies
- Operate multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and provide exceptional customer service
- Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing electronic health records (EHR systems) like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
- Assist with clinic operations including intake procedures, medical office management, and office management duties
- Ensure compliance with health information management standards and clinical confidentiality policies
Experience
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred, especially in chiropractic or dental settings
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Strong knowledge of medical billing, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), insurance verification, and health insurance policies including Medicare
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills including 10-key typing for data entry accuracy
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Experience working with health insurance providers and understanding of clinical documentation review processes
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information
- Strong organizational skills with clerical experience in filing, faxing, scanning documents, and managing electronic health records
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly over the phone and in person in a professional manner
