Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Staff Accountant – Tax Preparer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be proficient—and preferably certified—in QuickBooks Online, experienced in payroll processing, and familiar with tax return data entry. A solid understanding of debits, credits, and financial statement presentation is essential, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
This role reports directly to the firm’s owner and works closely with other business partners. You will gain exposure to accounting compilation, tax return preparation, IRS rules and regulations, and have opportunities to contribute to developing internal procedures as the firm grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Record accounting transactions and prepare bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Enter journal entries and record loan transactions.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns.
- Adjust and present financial statements.
- Complete year-end closing entries.
- Assist with firm administrative duties.
- Enter tax return data into tax preparation software.
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and QuickBooks Online (including accounts payable, general journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, year-end close, and report generation).
- Ability to manage interruptions while handling multiple tasks.
- Punctual, reliable, and detail-oriented.
- Knowledge of Drake Tax Software or similar a plus.
- Prior experience in accounting, tax data entry, or working in a public accounting office a plus.
