Compounding Pharmacy Technician – Hazardous Non-Sterile Compounding (USP 800) | Preston's Pharmacy (Falls Church)
Preston's Pharmacy is a science-forward compounding pharmacy serving patients and providers across Northern Virginia and the DC metro area. We're hiring a Pharmacy Technician whose primary responsibility is compounding hazardous non-sterile preparations in accordance with USP General Chapter <800> guidelines. Working under the direction of our staff pharmacist, lead technician, and pharmacy supervisor, you'll follow established policies and procedures to safely prepare high-quality compounded medications while protecting yourself, your team, and the environment.
This is a hands-on, detail-driven role for someone who takes USP 800 compliance seriously and understands the difference careful, safe compounding makes in personalized patient care.
What you'll do:
- Compound hazardous non-sterile preparations in compliance with USP 800 guidelines, using proper engineering controls, PPE, and containment practices
- Prepare non-sterile compounded products according to production schedules and patient-specific orders
- Set up, measure, and prepare all compounding orders accurately and efficiently
- Follow hazardous drug handling, storage, spill, and disposal protocols to maintain a safe work environment
- Inventory, order, and restock chemicals, supplies, and equipment
- Clean and maintain the work area and compounding equipment to meet quality and safety standards
- Process medication returns and patient credits
- Support the pharmacist and lead tech with day-to-day lab operations
Qualifications:
- Virginia Pharmacy Technician registration and PTCB national certification required
- 1+ years of compounding experience (hazardous drug / USP 800 experience strongly preferred)
- 2+ years of compounding experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed written and verbal instructions with precision and dependability
- Solid math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios/proportions)
- Excellent attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to meet deadlines

Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour
