Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Coder and Biller to join our healthcare team. This role involves accurately translating medical diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes for billing and documentation purposes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding systems, including DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding, along with proficiency in medical billing and collections. Prior experience with EMR/EHR systems and medical records management is essential to ensure precise coding and efficient billing processes. Duties
- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG coding systems.
- Ensure all coding complies with current regulations and guidelines to maximize reimbursement and maintain compliance standards.
- Prepare accurate medical bills for submission to insurance companies, patients, or other payers.
- Manage medical collections by following up on unpaid or denied claims to facilitate timely payments.
- Maintain detailed and organized documentation within EMR/EHR systems for easy retrieval and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures when necessary for accurate coding.
- Stay updated on changes in coding regulations, insurance policies, and healthcare laws affecting billing practices.
- Assist in audits by providing detailed documentation of coded records as needed.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting is required.
- Familiarity with DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards is essential.
- Prior experience with medical office operations, including medical terminology and records management, is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems is necessary for efficient workflow management.
- Knowledge of medical billing processes and collection procedures is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to interpret complex medical documentation are critical for success in this role. Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
