Bishop Design Consultants is conducting a retained search on behalf of a client: an established, full-service residential interior design firm in the San Francisco Bay Area known for high-end remodels, new builds, and full furnishings projects. All applications are confidential and reviewed directly by Bishop Design Consultants.
THE ROLE
The Senior Interior Designer is responsible for producing high-quality design projects alongside the Principal, supporting firm-wide initiatives, and helping to manage and nurture clients. The Senior Designer manages multiple project commitments and deadlines simultaneously and is comfortable working both independently and in teams. The Senior Designer is also a confident and strong collaborator both within the office and with external partners, clients, and consultants.
The role requires a highly organized, personable, intelligent, logical, articulate, hardworking, and self-motivated team member. An entrepreneurial spirit and a keen eye for detail are also needed to thrive in this creative, fast-paced studio environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead on multiple design projects at once, including conceptual design, space planning, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation to ensure deadlines and client expectations are met.
- Assist the Principal in setting the tone, vision, and design direction on projects with the team.
- Manage drafting from concept through CDs.
- Review all project designs and presentations for accuracy.
- Working knowledge of the permit process and local codes is preferred.
- In collaboration with the Principal on key projects, lead the selection of hard finishes, FF&E, and presentation documentation for client meetings.
- Conduct client meetings from concept to job site visits through to installation.
- Work with and cultivate relationships with external consultants, vendors, reps, and fabricators.
- Manage and mentor the design team throughout the design process to ensure accuracy and professional growth, from redlining to day-to-day feedback.
- Manage project budget to ensure accuracy and within specifications.
- Project management: manage deliverables with the design team for review and approval with the Principal; presentation schedules and meeting agendas; overall project budget, including FF&E budget.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 8–10+ years of relevant interior design experience, with the majority of time spent on high-end residential projects
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, SketchUp, or similar design software
- Proficiency in Studio Designer or a similar platform is required
- Proficient in GSuite — Docs/Sheets/Slides
- Strong knowledge of FF&E sources and strong vendor relations
- Current driver's license with reliable transportation to travel across the Bay Area for project requirements
