We run a fleet of loaders, skid steers, pickups, trailers, paving equipment large and small lawn mowers, and specialty thawing equipment. We are looking for a hands-on Mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment running and downtime minimal.
Position Overview
The Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining company vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation in demanding Alaskan conditions.
This role requires someone who can work independently, stay organized, and respond quickly during peak season operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative service on:
- Light-duty pickups
- Diesel trucks
- Loaders & skid steers
- Equipment trailers
- Asphalt paving equipment
- Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues
- Complete brake, suspension, and drivetrain repairs
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and repair records
- Conduct pre-season equipment readiness inspections
- Respond to emergency breakdowns during snow events
- Maintain shop cleanliness and organization
- Assist with equipment mobilization and setup as needed
Qualifications
- 3+ years mechanical experience (heavy equipment or diesel preferred)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Diesel engines
- Hydraulics
- Electrical systems
- Welding/fabrication (preferred)
- Ability to troubleshoot independently
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
- Ability to lift 75+ lbs
- Comfortable working outdoors in winter conditions
