We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Chief Engineer to oversee all engineering, maintenance, and facility operations for our hotel. The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and appearance of the property through effective maintenance of building systems, guest rooms, public areas, and equipment.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with hotel maintenance experience who can manage preventive maintenance programs, supervise staff, and respond quickly to operational issues.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage all hotel engineering and maintenance operations.
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
- Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire-life safety, and mechanical systems.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Supervise, train, and schedule maintenance staff.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues and guest concerns.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors.
- Conduct routine property inspections and identify repair needs.
- Manage maintenance budgets, inventory, and purchasing.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records.
- Support hotel renovations, capital projects, and equipment upgrades.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of hotel maintenance experience.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair hotel equipment and facilities.
- Knowledge of safety standards, OSHA regulations, and fire-life safety systems.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and emergency call-outs.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hotel Chief Engineer experience preferred.
- HVAC Certification, EPA Certification, or equivalent technical certifications.
- Experience with branded hotels (Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, IHG, Wyndham, etc.).
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
