Avatar Natural Foods is a growing food manufacturing company committed to producing safe, high-quality products while meeting the highest food safety and regulatory standards. We are looking for a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to join our Quality team and help ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, SQF, and customer requirements.
Position Summary
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing in-process and finished product inspections, monitoring Critical Control Points (CCPs), verifying GMP and PPE compliance throughout the facility, and maintaining accurate quality records. This position plays a critical role in ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Essential ResponsibilitiesProduct Quality
- Perform in-process quality inspections, including product weight, temperature, fill levels, seal integrity, coding, and visual quality.
- Conduct finished product inspections before product release.
- Identify and place non-conforming product on hold.
- Immediately report quality deviations to the QC Supervisor.
Food Safety & HACCP
- Monitor and document Critical Control Points (CCPs) according to the HACCP Plan.
- Verify proper operation of CCP monitoring equipment.
- Perform thermometer calibration checks and metal detector challenge tests.
- Complete corrective action documentation when critical limits are exceeded.
GMP & Production Audits
- Verify employees are following PPE requirements.
- Conduct GMP inspections throughout the production floor.
- Monitor sanitation, allergen controls, hygiene practices, and foreign material prevention.
- Document GMP violations and support corrective actions.
Documentation
- Complete quality records accurately and in real time.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Support traceability exercises and mock recalls.
Sample Collection
- Collect finished product samples according to the sampling schedule.
- Label, log, and store retention samples.
- Coordinate sample shipments to third-party laboratories when required.
Qualifications Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Google Sheets, data entry).
- Ability to accurately complete documentation.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Food Handler Certification Training
Preferred
- One (1) year or more of Quality Control experience in food manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety principles.
- HACCP Certification is a plus.
- USDA food manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
