Job Title: Senior Bridge Inspection / Structural Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Bridge Inspection and Structural Engineer to lead field inspection teams and manage diversified civil engineering projects out of our Jersey City location. In this role, you will oversee biennial and interim inspections for complex infrastructure, identify safety and structural flags, and design comprehensive rehabilitation solutions for bridges, tunnels, and transit facilities. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in structural design, field team leadership, and compliance with state department of transportation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and assist field teams in conducting biennial, interim, and specialized inspections of steel and concrete bridges, tunnels, and elevated transit structures.
- Identify, document, and report structural safety flags in accordance with State Uniform Codes of Bridge Inspection.
- Complete comprehensive steel and detail vulnerability assessments, including fatigue analysis for higher-risk structures.
- Design and detail rehabilitation options for structural steel elements, concrete decks, stringers, columns, girders, and bearing assemblies.
- Review structural plans, rehabilitation designs, shop drawings, and prepare accurate estimates of quantities.
- Collect, review, and maintain official infrastructure records, transferring critical field verification data into DOT databases.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
- Experience: 10+ years of extensive experience in bridge inspection and diversified structural design.
- Licensing: Valid New Jersey Professional Engineer (PE) License (or New York PE with the ability to obtain NJ comity).
- Certifications: Completion of National Highway Institute (NHI) Tunnel Safety Inspection Training (Course No. 130110 or 130125 refresher) is highly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong familiarity with DOT guidelines, transit authority procedures, and standard database entry.
- Field Skills: Hands-on experience with field verification, data collection hardware, and specialized structural testing equipment.
