Position Summary: The Registered Nurse’s role will include but will not be limited to: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patients’ status, plan of care, and goal achievement. The Registered Nurse also understands that by accepting an assignment, the nurse is aware of the potential exposure to internal and external hazardous materials including but not limited to: blood and blood borne pathogens, infections/communicable diseases, noise, excessive physical injury from patients, airborne dusts, fumes, and gases. Position works in conjunction with the physicians and/or nurse practitioners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with providing patient care, records vital signs, discuss and records chief health concerns, performs tests, administers injections as order by the physician and/or nurse practitioner

Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records

Places phone calls to pharmacies to order prescriptions or send prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy as authorized by the physician and/or nurse practitioner

Sets up patient referrals and obtains prior authorizations as required by the patient’s insurance carrier

Provides direct patient education regarding clinical condition, medication, and behavioral modification

Ensure patient records are current and accurate and privacy procedures are followed

Observes and records patient behavior

Operates medical equipment

Collects specimens and performs diagnostic tests

Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluation patient care plans

Maintains strictest confidentiality
Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or Associates degree from an accredited College of Nursing accompanied by a current nursing license from the State of Mississippi
