Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties by handing instruments and managing materials efficiently.
- Take and develop dental x-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray equipment while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage clinical documentation by accurately recording medical history, vital signs, treatment notes, and updating electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft and Dentrix.
- Ensure strict compliance with infection control standards by following aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures aligned with healthcare infection prevention policies.
- Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient care and reduce procedure time.
- Support administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information through medical coding systems, and managing medical documentation efficiently.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies at all times while fostering a safe environment for both patients and staff.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic for accurate medical records management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Experience with dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques.
- Skilled in taking dental x-rays and operating advanced imaging tools like 3D scanners with precision.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with children in a clinical setting.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist during oral surgery or endodontic procedures confidently.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the dental team and provide exceptional patient care while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
