We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Project Engineer with a strong passion for the construction industry. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, and demonstrate reliability, a strong work ethic, and a collaborative spirit. Preference will be given to candidates with prior internship experience in construction and/or previous employment with a general contractor. This role requires regular travel to project sites throughout Southern California, including visits to our HQ in Los Alamitos. In addition to our robust benefits package, the hiring range for this position is $80,000-$100,000. While this is the targeted range, final offer amounts will depend on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s prior relevant experience, their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
How you can contribute as a Project Engineer:
- Assist Project Manager in the day-to-day management of one or more construction projects while prioritizing the workload to meet project goals;
- Track subcontractor insurance to verify all subs are in compliance before they begin work. Review subcontractor compliance log weekly and follow up with any subs whose insurance is expiring soon.
- Monitor SWPPP compliance and verify required paperwork is current and complete. Coordinate with company safety manager.
- Track project LEED and Cal Green requirements; coordinate with the project LEED consultants
- Support the project team in problem resolution;
- Work with Project Admin and Project Manager to complete project closeout which includes O&M manuals, warranty, as-built documents, training, and additional requirements as defined in the contract documents.
- Obtain and maintain a subcontractor list from Project Admin with contacts and keep current for specific project.
- Other duties and special projects as required.
- Review drawings and specifications and validate subcontractor related RFIs (Request for Information)
- Distribute and track RFI responses – Create an RFI log tracking issue date, response date, and completeness of response. Additionally, note if there are cost & time impacts (if any) associated with the RFI response.
- Posting of RFIs and slip sheeting of issued drawings, could be issued as ASIs (Architecture Supplemental Instructions) or addendums in as-builts (record set) maintained at field office.
- Creating and maintaining meeting minutes that should include details that indicate status when any issue is open, when issue was resolved and closed, and responsible party, as well as potential upcoming issues.
- Solicit and review subcontractor submittals for completeness, content, compliance, and conformity with the contract documents;
- Creating and maintaining submittal logs, including procurement, that includes date received by subcontractors, date turned into architect, date received from architect, approval status, and comments.
- Verify as-built drawings (Record Set) are being updated by subcontractors; engage superintendent to verify completeness of accuracy of as-built drawings
